Our Parent/Carer Forum Work
IMPACT
As a result of our parent/carer partnership working, many positive developments have taken place. As a school, we are committed to gathering parental feedback which we analyse and action.
We have improved signage across the school so that internal and external location/direction signs and symbols better meet the needs of families when visiting the school.
We have transformed our transition offer for new Foundation parents / carers. This now includes an improved transition booklet and a range of transition events that support both the children and new parents/carers. Feedback has been extremely positive.
A school communication policy has been adopted which ensures clarity regarding which school communication can be found on which platforms. This can be found within our Parent/Carer Policy. https://www.boringdon.plymouth.sch.uk/attachments/download.asp?file=1319&type=pdf
A need for a greater number of parent/carer workshops was identified from feedback. Now, a wide variety of workshops are in place across the year. These have included workshops on Accelerated Reader, Read Write Inc, Anxiety, Self Esteem to name but a few. We have also hosted three cycles of ‘Timid to Tigers’ course both for our own parents / carers and those from other schools across Plymouth.
This academic year, the forum suggested and supported a new initiative to get more parents volunteering in school. Twenty parents/carers have volunteered and are now starting to volunteer in a range of year groups across the school.
